Hi everyone. I know it’s been a while but I just thought I would post an update on the progress of the site. I am currently redoing the entire website from scratch, updating it, making it more user oriented, and changing it to include more sites then just graphics/resources.
There will be a new and improved user system. The user will have a profile where they can edit their information, and from there they can control the listings under their user name (meaning you can have more than one site listed!). And the new login system should be automated so you can sign up, receive a confirmation e-mail and activate your account.
Also, the top views will actually work properly. You shouldn’t be able to refresh a page and increase the views anymore.
I am planning once this goes live to send an e-mail to all the current registrants and ask them to sign up again. I know that a lot of the current registrants are now inactive so it’s not worth transferring them. And the contest I was talking about for a while will finally run after the new site is up. It will basically be a site of the month that will be judged off two components.
- Amount of votes for that site to win.
- Amount of users redirected to our site through links.
For now site of the month will be judged on those as I want the site to gain more exposure and users. Later on the criteria will most likely be expanded.

Hey guys, so I added a FAQ page mainly so I could stop explaining about how the screenshot works. But I also added some relevant questions regarding your listing and any issues you might have with it. If there’s anything else you think I should add then just leave a comment about it.
Also I want to remind those that I contacted about their listing, if they do not fix whatever issue they had by December 18th, 2009 I will delete their listing.
And I want to ask YOU guys a question. What would you like to see? A Site of the Month contest, or a general contest to win some prize like mp3s? Leave a comment with what you think.

So I finally completed that listing check I mentioned a few months ago. I sent out quite a few e-mails to people about invalid URLs or no visible link back. For those of you I contacted, I need you to somehow respond by December 18th, 2009. After that day I will delete any outstanding listings.
Also I plan to change the user panel from PHP to ASP eventually. I’m most likely going to be learning ASP for fun during the next school term so and to test out my knowledge I will use this site. If I change the user panel it will be more secure and I will probably add more functionality like changing your username.
And once the listings have been updated later this month I think we are going to set up either a Site of the Month sort of thing, or a contest to improve site hits and get more listings.

I am going to go through each of the listings to make sure that a link back to EOE is shown somewhere. Also I will be seeing if the websites are still active. If not then I will e-mail the owners with the e-mails they gave us and if I do not receive a response within 2-3 weeks I will delete their listing.
This will be done probably next weekend.

So now that the user panel is open, I came online today and checked to see whose updated their passwords and screenshots.
Weird thing is, A LOT of passwords have been made blank and I have no clue why. So I’m going to send an e-mail to those whose passwords turned blank to see what they did in order to do that. I think it’s probably a special character that the form isn’t handling. But really, I have no clue. o_o I’m going to do some investigation.
SO if you’re having trouble logging in and you’ve changed your password I’m going to change it back to what we had before. Sorry about this inconvenience guys.
EDIT: I think I may have found the problem. In the edit listing page for some reason I put in a call to update the password when you didn’t even have the password listed there. Hopefully this fixes the issue.
